FemmeToxic - Demanding safer cosmetics!

everywhere you go these days you see merchandise in pink boxes, with pink highlights and promises that part of the proceeds will go to breast cancer research. as october (aka breast cancer awareness month) rolls in, the concentration of pink in the grocery store, pharmacy and even wine store (rosés are pink, after all), and i get more and more annoyed.

'what a jerk!' you think, 'why does this person hate people with breast cancer?' dear reader, this is not the case. i love my mother, high school bio teacher, and aunt. the issue here is not that i really want breast cancer to hurt and kill people. rather it is that while the Run to Stop Breast Cancer, or the Walk, or the Bike Ride, or the Bottle of Wine, may give people an opportunity to have some catharsis around the stress and pain of going through chemo or supporting a loved one through the process, i'm not so sure that the money those items are raising is going to stop breast cancer...
